The Supervisory Board of Enefit Green prolonged the term of the Chairman of the Management Board, Aavo Kärmas

Pursuant to the decision of the Supervisory Board of Enefit Green, Eesti Energia's renewable energy subsidiary, the term of office of the Chairman of the Management Board, Aavo Kärmas, was prolonged for the next three-year period.

Hando Sutter, the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Enefit Green, said that under the successful management of Aavo Kärmas, Enefit Green has become one of the largest producers of renewable energy in the region and the most profitable business unit of the Eesti Energia Group. “The company has a clear ambition for growth, so Aavo’s continuation was a logical decision,” said Hando Sutter.

"The energy sector is attractive and renewable energy is one of the fastest-growing and forward-looking part of it, which has developed at a rapid pace in recent years. It has been exciting to be at the center of this and I highly appreciate the opportunity to continue contributing to the development of the renewable energy sector both in Estonia and in our region,” said Aavo Kärmas, the Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Green. "I am also proud of my team, with whom we have done a lot over the past three years, and with whom I am moving forward towards the next goals," remarked Aavo Kärmas.

Aavo Kärmas has been the Chairman of the Management Board of Enefit Green since 2017. Under his leadership, the company has grown and developed strongly, operating today in a total of four different markets with the most diverse renewable energy production portfolio in the Baltics. In addition, Aavo Kärmas is the Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Wind Energy Association (ETEA), which unites companies, organizations and individuals interested in the harnessing of wind energy.

Before entering the field of renewable energy, Aavo Kärmas was a Member of the Management Board of Omniva for ten years serving the last five of them as the Chairman of the Management Board. From 1996 until 2006, he worked in various management positions in the company Viljandi Aken ja Uks.

Aavo Kärmas graduated from Tallinn University of Technology with a degree in administrative management.

The Management Board of Enefit Green has a total of four members. In addition to Aavo Kärmas, the Chairman of the Management Board, the Management Board also includes Innar Kaasik, the Chief Operating Officer, Linas Sabaliauskas, the Chief Development Officer, and Veiko Räim, the Chief Financial Officer.

Eesti Energia, the sole shareholder of Enefit Green, has set a goal to increase renewable energy production to 43% of the Group’s total energy production volume in the next five years. Enefit Green has an important role to play in achieving this goal.

Enefit Green is a renewable energy company that belongs to the Eesti Energia Group and currently owns a total of 20 wind farms, 4 cogeneration plants, 36 solar power plants, a pellet plant and a hydroelectric power plant in four markets – Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
