Enefit Green's installed power generation capacity has increased to 1,000 megawatts
On September 5th, Enefit Green opened the Silalė II wind park, its first new wind farm in Lithuania in several years. The company is close to completing the Akmenė wind farm and progressing with the Kelmė I and II projects. Additionally, all 38 turbines have been installed at the Sopi-Tootsi wind farm in Estonia.
Today, on September 6th, Enefit Green is laying the cornerstone for the foundation of the Kelmė II wind farm, which also marks a milestone for the neighboring Kelmė I wind farm. Construction of foundations is underway at Kelmė II, with turbine installation scheduled for Q2 2025. At the Kelmė I wind farm, all turbines have been installed.
The company has completed the installation of all 38 turbines at the largest wind farm in the Baltics, Sopi-Tootsi wind farm. To date, 12 turbines at the Sopi-Tootsi wind farm have delivered their first electricity to the grid. With the completion of turbine installation at the Sopi-Tootsi wind farm, Enefit Green's total installed capacity across all power generation facilities now exceeds the 1,000-megawatt mark.
Andres Maasing, the Interim CEO of Enefit Green emphasized the significance of Šilale II wind farm. “It is a milestone project, as it was the first investment decision marking the beginning of Enefit Green's growth cycle in 2021. The share of renewable energy must continue to increase in the future so that we can transition to cleaner energy sources, meet growing electricity demand, and ensure competitive electricity prices for consumers in the long term,” commented Maasing.
He added: “In recent years, Enefit Green has been in an active construction phase, building multiple wind and solar farms in Finland, the Baltics, and Poland. Some sites have been completed, while others are nearing the final stages of construction. Construction is in full swing at several large wind farms, and we are pleased to announce that the company's total installed capacity has now reached 1,000 megawatts. This is a significant milestone for our entire team, as well as for our partners“.
Enefit Green has invested nearly 60 million euros in the Šilalė II wind farm which consists of 12 General Electric wind turbines. The nominal power of one wind turbine is 3.6 MW and the diameter of its blades is 137 meters. The wind turbine generator and gearbox are in the nacelle at a height of 131 meters. The highest point of the wind turbine above the ground – the height of the tip of the blade – is approx. 200 meters. The total capacity of the wind farm is 43 megawatts and its expected annual output 160 gigawatt-hours.
To emphasize the importance of clients and people’s demand for green energy two wind turbines in Šilale II wind farm were named after Enefit customers. One of the turbines is named after our first business customer to sign a long-term power purchase agreement – Roquette Amilina. The other is named after Povilas Petrauskas who was Enefit’s 100 000th client in Lithuania.
Enefit Green’s operating capacity is 587 MW. There are 637 MW of new capacities under construction, of which 459 MW have been installed to date, of which about 204 MW is producing electricity.
